The different printing forms
How to choose the most appropriate printing method?Imprimerie Paris Welye has the expertise to guide you in choosing the ideal printing method for your needs and budget.
There are 3 main types of printing methods: offset, digital and web. web presses.
Because not everyone is familiar with all the main techniques, it’s a good idea to find out beforehand which one suits you best.
To help you decide, we’ve outlined the main differences below.
For more information, please contact Welye.
Offset printing
Offset is often considered the most qualitative option, but also the most economical for large quantities.
This is mainly because makeready costs (i.e. the number of prints the printer has to make before achieving the desired result) are relatively fixed.
However, for specific orders, these costs may vary.
This means that once the makeready has been completed, you can print very large quantities with excellent results.
In particular, it’s a popular printing method for prestigious materials, as it delivers extremely high-quality color rendition.
Offset printing can be more or less costly, depending on the type and quantity of media required, which is why you should seek the help of a qualified printer like Welye imprimerie.
Don’t hesitate to send us your requests for quotes via our website or by email.
Digital printing
Digital printing, on the other hand, uses either a jet printer – like the one we use at home – or a laser printer.
Both are ultra-fast options that deliver perfectly satisfactory results for small quantities.
For your information, Welye recommends an average print run of no more than 400 copies with digital printing.
The real advantage lies in speed, but also in the number of colors.
If you’re interested in this printing method, you should know that Welye, a printer in Paris, recommends printing on a light background to ensure optimum results from your digital print.
Rotary printing
Web offset printing is by far the best known.
In fact, it’s the one used for large-run newspapers in particular.
As the name implies, web presses print large rolls of sheets continuously.
And in record time.
This can be an interesting solution if you want to print (very) large volumes of your brochures, sales leaflets, catalogs or other flyers.
Be aware, however, that paper quality is limited; in fact, Welye Paris printers recommend a maximum grammage of 115gr.
To sum up, the two main printing methods are offset and digital, with offset presses suitable for large quantities.
Offset printing requires a number of preparatory stages, which justifies its high cost for print volumes of less than 1,000.
However, it delivers optimum results in terms of final rendering.
Digital printing is ideal for small quantities, as it enables us to print high-quality jobs (brochures, sales leaflets, flyers, restaurant menus, etc.) in record time.
Welye is committed to remaining at the cutting edge of technology, and our workshops are multi-skilled, ranging from digital to offset.
This commitment to advanced technology enables us to satisfy our customers as quickly as possible.
