Everything about business card printing in Paris

The business card remains one of the most cost-effective tools in your communication: a small object that is kept, touched and that speaks for you long after the meeting. At Welye, a Paris-based printer, we treat every business card as a refined piece, from the choice of paper to the converting. Here is what you need to know to understand your options and make the right choice.

Sizes

The classic business card size in Paris remains 85 × 54 mm, which fits every card holder and wallet. We also print square cards (55 × 55 mm), mini or strip formats, and the US format 88.9 × 50.8 mm for your international contacts. An off-standard size, an XXL card, a folded wallet card? We do it: tell us about your project, made to measure is our daily routine.

Papers & weights

Weight gives your card its feel and rigidity. For a business card, we rarely recommend below 350 gsm: a card that is too thin bends and creases quickly.

  • Coated matt or gloss 350 gsm: the reliable, crisp and economical standard for double-sided cards
  • Textured creative papers (linen, felt, laid) from 300 to 600 gsm for a premium feel
  • Triplex and multi-layer cards up to 600 gsm, with optional coloured edge
  • Recycled and kraft papers for a more responsible card, without sacrificing print quality

Finishes

It is often the finish that turns an ordinary card into a memorable one. Soft-touch lamination brings an irresistible velvety feel; 3D spot UV varnish makes a logo or a word stand out; hot foiling (gold, silver, copper, holographic) adds a touch of luxury. We also offer embossing, debossing and die-cutting. A special finish you have seen elsewhere? Describe it to us, we always look for a solution.

Offset or digital

The choice of process mainly depends on quantity. Digital printing is ideal for short runs from 100 copies, name-personalised cards and fast express jobs. Offset becomes more attractive on large volumes and offers highly precise colour, especially with Pantone inks for an exact brand colour. We guide you toward the process best suited to your budget and deadline.

Preparing your file

For a flawless card, supply a CMYK file at 300 dpi, with 3 mm bleed on each edge and your key text at least 4 mm from the trim. A high-resolution PDF remains the safest format. No file ready? Our Paris prepress studio lays out your card, checks your colours and fixes everything before printing, to avoid any bad surprises.
