Section sewing is the most refined binding in publishing. Each section is folded, gathered and stitched with thread before being glued at the spine: you get a remarkably strong book that opens almost flat and survives the years without falling apart. In our Paris print studio, we produce sewn-bound brochures for fine books, monographs, exhibition catalogues and every premium edition where feel and durability matter as much as the content.

Sizes & page counts

Classic sizes range from A5 to A4, including the square format (21×21, 24×24) much loved for photo books and art editions. Page count is always a multiple of 4 and runs from around fifty pages to over 500, depending on paper thickness. A non-standard, landscape, portrait or large square format? We make it to measure: just tell us the dimensions and page count of your project.

Cover & binding

Sewn brochures come in a soft cover, which keeps the lightness of a brochure while gaining strength, or in a rigid cased cover for a true book feel. On the most refined editions we add coloured endpapers, a ribbon marker or a printed dust jacket. The spine can be square or rounded depending on the spirit of the book.

Finishes

The cover is enhanced with gloss, matt or soft-touch lamination, often combined with spot UV varnish to bring out a title or motif. For prestige editions we offer hot foil stamping (gold, silver or colour), embossing and debossing, and coloured page edges. A non-standard format, a particular paper, a special finish? Offset or digital

For large publishing runs, offset printing delivers stable colour and an optimised unit cost. For short runs, reprints or print-on-demand books, high-definition digital lets us produce from just a few copies with no compromise on quality. We point you to the most relevant technique based on your quantity, budget and deadline.

Preparing your file

Supply a high-resolution PDF as single pages, in reading order, with 3 to 5 mm bleed and images at 300 dpi minimum. Plan a generous spine and comfortable inner margins, as sewing pulls the text slightly towards the fold. Our Paris prepress studio checks your files for free, prepares the spine template and prints a proof before going to press to avoid any surprises.
