Perfect binding gives your documents the look and feel of a real book: a flat spine that can carry the title, cleanly glued pages and a thick cover that showcases the content. Sizes

A4 and A5 portrait remain the go-to sizes for catalogues and magazines, while landscape A4 and square formats (21 × 21 cm, 24 × 24 cm) are very popular for portfolios and lookbooks. We also produce portrait or landscape layouts, from compact A6 to a generous 24 × 32 cm. A non-standard size, a precise square or dimensions set by your brand guidelines? Papers & weights

Binding & gluing

Hotmelt gluing suits most everyday brochures and catalogues. For heavy use, thick coated pages or a flatter opening, PUR glue offers markedly higher strength and a more flexible spine. Allow roughly 40 pages minimum to obtain a glueable spine, and up to several hundred depending on inner weight. Page count is always worked in multiples of 2.

Cover finishes

The cover makes all the difference: gloss, matt or soft-touch lamination to protect and enhance the artwork, spot UV to lift a logo or title, hot foil and embossing for a premium finish. The flat spine lends itself to title printing as soon as thickness allows. A special finish in mind, a flap to add or a particular overprint? Preparing your file

Supply a high-resolution CMYK PDF with 3 to 5 mm bleed and keep text clear of trims and the spine fold. The cover is prepared as a single spread (spine included), whose width depends on the final thickness of the book; we calculate that spine width for you based on the chosen paper and page count. Our prepress studio checks every file before printing and can handle the layout if needed. When in doubt, send your files: we review them for free.

PUR or standard glue?

Two gluing options are available. Hotmelt (EVA) glue suits the vast majority of catalogues, magazines and reports: economical and reliable for everyday use. PUR (polyurethane) glue goes further — it withstands temperature swings better, holds the heavy coated papers that standard glue struggles with, and allows a more flexible, almost lay-flat opening. For a document leafed through for years or printed on heavy gloss coated stock, we recommend PUR. We advise the right glue for your paper, page count and intended use.

How many pages? (up to 500)

Perfect binding starts around 40 pages: that is the minimum thickness for a glueable, clean spine. Below that, a stapled brochure is a better and more economical fit. At the top end, we bind up to roughly 500 pages depending on inner weight — beyond that, or for maximum strength, we move to section-sewn binding. Page count is always set in multiples of 2. Send us your page count and paper: we calculate the spine thickness and the exact width to allow on the cover for you.

Covers & finishes

A perfect-bound cover is produced on heavy 250 to 350 gsm board, usually laminated to protect it and lift the artwork: elegant anti-mark matt, gloss for deep colours, or velvety soft-touch. Add spot UV, hot foil or embossing to bring out a title or logo. The flat spine can carry the printed title as soon as thickness allows — handy for shelving. A flap, a dust jacket or an overprint are available on request.

Perfect binding or stapled brochure?

The choice comes down mainly to page count and finish. Under ~64 pages, a stapled brochure (saddle stitch) is lighter, faster and cheaper — ideal for a sales flyer or a seasonal catalogue. From ~40 to 48 pages and for a bookstore look with a printable spine, perfect binding wins: it is the standard for product catalogues, annual reports and thick magazines. Torn between the two?
